POSITION SUMMARY:

This sales role is a customer-facing ambassador and is responsible for NMDP BioTherapies reaching its annual sales goals through securing contracts for our business.

NMDP BioTherapies offers products and services to Cell and Gene Therapy developers who are developing novel therapeutic approaches to curing life threatening diseases. NMDP BioTherapies is a business unit of NMDP, a leading institution that plays a central role in the provision of what is still the most widely used life-saving cell therapy in the world, bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Through NMDP, this organization has opened its vast ecosystem and asset base to Cell and Gene Therapy Developers.  This is a remote position (US).  #LI-Remote

ACCOUNTABILITIES:  

Sales and Business Development:

  • Cultivate and build a sales pipeline in the C&GT marketplace.
  • Close contracts with clients on financial terms ensure the financial viability of the organization as well as the true value of the products and services that are delivered.
  • Develop and  implement account strategies to drive both short term and long-term growth in revenue for NMDP BioTherapies.
  • Engage in activities (both customer-facing and behind the scenes) that demonstrate mastery of certain subject matter and deep engagement with this emerging area of medicine (speaking at conferences, participating in webinars, writing of white papers, as examples)
  • Cultivate and help build a partnering ecosystem to deliver an end-to-end solution to efficiently develop and deliver cell therapies to clients.
  • Contribute to the Sales and BD team meeting or exceeding its annual departmental goals.

 

Collaboration

  • Build an excellent working relationship with Product Management and Marketing to guide development of new products and services.
  • Build an excellent working relationship with Marketing to continue to build and elevate the NMDP BioTherapies brand and generate new business leads.
  • Work closely with the Legal, Finance, and Client Engagement teams to construct appropriate proposals and contracts.

 

External Advocate for NMDP and NMDP BioTherapies:

  • This is an externally facing role, and this person must be able to represent well the mission of NMDP and NMDP BioTherapies.
  • Take on multiple external speaking engagements, whether they be online or in person, and articulate the value proposition of NMDP BioTherapies.
  • Support content development and recruit speakers for internally sponsored conferences and other events.
  • Develop an understanding of the overall offerings of NMDP and be able to articulate how the offering of NMDP BioTherapies fit within that scope.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of

  • Advanced knowledge of project and program management principles, risk management and application of delivery solutions, systems, organizational change management, and business process analysis
  • Knowledge of business analysis is a strong plus.

 

Ability to:

  • Ability to develop critical relationships with marketplace stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the cell and gene therapy marketplace
  • Ability to interpret business goals and develop the business’s strategies and tactics to achieve them.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Results are oriented and focused on assessing customer needs and market trends within the context of product and business capabilities and translating assessment into workable strategy.
  • Cross-group collaboration skills to work across internal stakeholder groups.
  • Sound personal judgment and application of creative solutions to solve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Willing to take risks and make tough decisions without complete information and assume responsibility for results.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing including professional and creative presentation skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to develop priorities and manage time appropriately.
  • Ability to work successfully within a team environment.
  • Ability to integrate innovative ideas to accomplish corporate and individual objectives.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% or more to attend industry conferences, internal meetings, and visit both current and potential customers.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in life sciences. Upon evaluation, a combination of equivalent education and/or experience in addition to the required experience outlined below may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • 5+ years of experience in the cell and gene therapy marketplace, preferably with a strong existing network of potential sales contacts within that marketplace
  • Experience must include 5+ years leading complex, highly technical, long cycle sales campaigns.  The candidate must have a demonstrated track record of success in closing deals on favorable financial terms as well as guiding early-stage implementation of large-scale, cross-functional efforts, within tight time frames.
  • Experience must also include leading client interactions and engagement, including early implementation and ongoing account nurturing to generate additional revenue opportunities
  • Strong business and technical writing skills, independent problem solving, decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, networking and negotiating skills.
  • Written, oral and presentation skills are required.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
