REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • The US health care system, including Medicare, Medicaid, and the commercial health insurance industry
  • Federal, State, and local government structure, procedure, and processes
  • Key health care policy issues and resources
  • Basic medical terminology relating to oncology, biology, and/or biotechnology.
  • Direct Action Organizing or similar advocacy campaign development tools

 

Ability to:

  • Define course of action within unclear and rapidly changing parameters
  • Manage resources efficiently and coordinate multiple project components within quality, budget, and timeline constraints.
  • Communicate exceptionally well in oral and written formats
  • Use MS Office suite programs with advanced proficiency
  • Manage time effectively and work at a quick pace
  • Clearly communicate, build relationships, and collaborate.
  • Work effectively in a complex cross-functional work environment
  • Comfortably interact with a diverse population 
  • Meet deadlines, be flexible, problem solve, work effectively in a team environment and be a self-starter
  • Organize facts and present information and figures in a clear, concise, and logical manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Develop and present trainings for volunteers and staff
  • Prioritize and coordinate tasks and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Work with others internal and external to NMDP

 

 

Education and/or Experience:

  •           Bachelors’ degree and 7+ years of relevant experience with progressive work  responsibilities.  Upon evaluation, 12 years of relevant experience with progressive work responsibilities may be substituted for the degree requirement. 

  • Political or issue campaign or legislative experience at the federal, state, or local level
  • Expertise with grassroots campaigns that help drive policies to address disparities and other health equity concerns.
